A Calm, Outdoor Environment
Jacksons at Jedburgh is a real working family farm, not a busy theme park.
There are no flashing lights, loud music or crowded indoor attractions. Instead, you’ll find open fields, fresh air, friendly animals and plenty of space to move around.
Children are free to take things at their own pace, whether that’s spending twenty minutes watching the chickens, saying hello to the goats or simply enjoying a quiet walk around the farm.
Many families tell us they appreciate the slower pace and relaxed atmosphere.
What to Expect During Your Visit
As with any working farm, there are a few things to expect:
- Animal noises and farm smells
- Uneven ground and natural paths
- Farm vehicles or tractors moving around from time to time
- Scottish weather (sometimes all four seasons in one day!)
We believe in being honest about the environment while also creating a welcoming place where families can relax and enjoy themselves.

Because neurodiversity is part of our own family life, we understand that every child experiences the world differently.
Some visitors love getting up close to the animals straight away. Others prefer to take things slowly and observe from a distance before joining in.
If your child or family member has a favourite animal, a special interest or anything that might help make their visit more enjoyable, we’d love to know in advance.
There is no judgement here – only understanding.
Mobility & Accessibility
As a working farm, some areas include uneven ground and natural terrain, which can make parts of the experience more challenging for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility.
That said, many visitors with mobility needs have enjoyed spending time at the farm. If you’d like to discuss your individual requirements before visiting, please get in touch and we’ll happily talk through what to expect.
Allergies
Working farms naturally contain animal feed, bedding, hay and other materials that may trigger allergies.
If you or someone in your group has allergies or dietary concerns related to animals or the farm environment, please contact us before your visit so we can provide as much information as possible.
